Orlistat Review

Fat blockers are becoming an ever increasing presence on the weight loss supplement scene probably for their mythical ability to allow you to eat some of the foods you lose without having to pack on the pounds that come with them. Orlistat is the common ingredient in two currently popular fat blockers, the prescription Xenical and the over the counter product called Alli. Both products advertise themselves as superior weight loss options that can keep you from gaining even another ounce on your frame. This ingredient is said to block the fats you ingest on a daily basis and it claims to be able to eliminate a portion of your fat intake through human waste.
Pros
At this time the ingredient Orlistat does have the approval of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use as a weight loss ingredient. This means that this product have been evaluated and deemed safe under the FDA’s guidelines. Not all ingredients or supplement formula’s can claim this. Orlistat has shown a modicum of success in a few clinical trials. The results of these studies were not staggering or dramatic but a little less than half of the test subjects did see a 5-10% weight loss over a period of 12 months.
Cons
This ingredient has a much higher “con” count than “pro.” Since Orlistat blocks fats you will find you may have an increase in oily or loose stool, frequent or urgent bowl movement, gas, orange spots and diarrhea. These are not common supplement side effects, we can assure you. You are also required to follow a strict non-fat diet in order to limit the probability of such embarrassing occurrences. Why not just follow a non-fat diet and skip the pill? You will probably lose the same amount of weight and you won’t need to be concerned about having an extra set of pants with you at all times.
Conclusion
This ingredient isn’t effective enough to warrant its use in any formula, let alone to excuse its overwhelmingly unpleasant side effects. There are much better and more potent options available to you and none of them will require you to purchase adult diapers. We do not recommend any product containing Orlistat at this time.
