Fat Bloc is here to blast away the old adage, “you are what you eat,” and allow us to eat whatever calorie-laden fat we want without feeling guilty. You’re only human if this sounds enticing to you, but before you whip out your credit card, let’s just see if Fat Bloc really is that silver bullet pill we’ve all been looking for.
Does It Have Any Redeeming Qualities?
Fat Bloc relies on the naturally occurring fiber chitosan to trap the fats you eat before they are absorbed into your bloodstream. Chitosan is derived from the complex sugar found in the shells of shrimp, crabs and other shellfish. Because of its net positive charge, chitosan is thought to be able to bind to the negative lipids and fats, making a fatty compound that is too large to be absorbed through the intestinal membrane—meaning that rather than metabolizing those fats, you would just poop them out.
Anything To Be Worried About?
Even though weight loss supplements that use chitosan, like Fat Bloc, don’t seem to have any serious side effects—unless you’re allergic to shellfish—they also don’t seem to have many weight loss effects either. Despite its strong theory, chitosan just doesn’t seem to deliver results once it goes into practice. Of the human test subjects who were using supplements with chitosan in them, none of them were found to have more oils in their excrement than those who were using the placebo, meaning that the chitosan wasn’t preventing the body from absorbing any fat.

Because there are so many weight loss supplements out there that can present not only impressive scientific theory, but also cold, hard results, we suggest looking for a different weight loss supplement.
