Best Workouts to Lose Weight

best workouts to lose weightWhether you’re a seasoned gym rat, or your workouts are best done in front of the TV, new workouts can help inspire your mind, and your body, to build new muscles and to get into better shape.

To help fuel the inspiration process, we’ve put together a list of some of the most effective workouts in burning calories and building lean muscle mass:

Foot Dip

Whether you choose a real step or stack fitness benches on top of each other, you’re going to want to have one of your feet about two feet above the ground.

With two dumbbells, about 8-10 pounds apiece, stand on top of the step with your feet together and your arms at your sides.

Lifting your foot off the bench, squat down a little further than if you were to place your foot on the floor. As you straighten your leg, bring the dumbbells up to your shoulders and return to a standing position.

Plank Salute

With your hands directly below your shoulders and your palms facing toward each other, position your weight on one arm so that you can lift your other arm straight out in front of you.

As you replace your arm, situate your weight on that arm so that you can lift up your other one. As you alternate between arms, make sure to engage your core to make the transition smoother.

Crunch and Squat

Standing with your legs slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, hold a medicine ball in front of you and squat down to a full 90 degree angle squat.

lipofuzeAs you return to a standing position, lift one of your legs so that your knee is above your hips, and raise the medicine ball above your head.

Another thing that you can do to increase the amount of calories that you burn during your workout is add a supplement.

We’ve reviewed many diet pills that work and have found Lipofuze to be the most effective. Not only does it help stimulate your metabolism, but it increases the amount of lean muscle mass that you can build.

This allows you to not only increase the results of your workout, but increases your ability to burn calories even after you’re done working out.

  1. The shake-weight brings maastrbtuion to mind. I don't think I could use that thing without erupting in hysterics. On a serious note, the Shake Weight gets a big thumbs down from me. For a start, one of their facts' is bogus: contrary to their assertion, lifting a dumbell works way more than just one muscle in one direction. Anyone lifting a sufficiently heavy dumbell will find that out fairly quickly. I strength-train twice a week (I love it!) and no matter how much it shakes around, a 2.5lb (or even a 5lb) glorified dumbell isn't going to do very much to improve anything at all. To increase strength, increase fat-burning muscle, and achieve toning' (read: fat loss) it's necessary to increase the weight. I didn't see the facility to do that with the Shake Weight. Everyone does need to start somewhere, but one 2.5lb non-adjustable weight is a joke. I'm not particularly strong, and I've been ill recently so not training that much, and the other day I bench-pressed a pair of 26lb dumbells for three sets of ten. I felt it! No gimmick required! What a waste of money.I also run this weekend I did a new route but forgot to check the distance before I set off. A quick look at the map and I thought it would be about 4 to 4.5 miles. Turns out it's more like 6. I had to walk after 5.5 miles, and I was exhausted for the rest of the day, so that was a bit of a miserable failure!

  2. Nice. I saw the ShakeWeights the other day at Sports Authority and wanted to play with them but they didn't work, darn it. In our nwspeaper there was a 7 day pass to a nearby recreation center and as soon as I get over this lung infection I am going to take advantage of it. I want to join a gym because it will get Toby and me OUT of the house and if he is driving me nuts, nothing better than him going to a daycare while I kill myself on the elliptical. Ideally the gym I join is going to offer mommy and me type classes too. I'll keep you posted As for our home workouts, does lifting cookies to my mouth count? They're really chunky, heavy cookies. All right fine, so sometimes I do WiiFit and I've got Gold's Gym Wii Workout rented too. That should be fun to try out. (PS This is Kris from Why Does the Bird Sing? I started a new weight loss blog but am trying to keep it separate from my blogger blog.)

  3. We actually saw this at Bed Bath & Beyond last night. Not utepxecnedly, my boyfriend, who has the perverted mind of a 15-year-old, immediately picked it up and started making jokes. All jokes aside, I would never buy this. Any of these so-called groundbreaking products are going to disappoint as nothing out there is as magical as the sellers make them to be. Personally, I do cardio 5 times a week and strength training twice a week. It's your traditional running, elliptical, and biking; plus squats, 5-lb dumbbells (my upper body has a long way to go as far as strength), scissor kicks and dirty dog lifts (or anything that'll work my outer thighs), various crunches, and some of the machines at the gym. Then there's also the very important component of a healthy diet. The whole program has worked wonders for me. I am only trying to lose about 5-10 lbs total and so far, I've already lost 5 lbs in about 1 month.

  4. I like that burger ranrautest, except for the fact that it is SO NOISY you can't carry on a conversation.I work out with weights, via the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred which is a circuit of weights, cardio and abs, on three levels of difficulty. I've about mastered level two and am getting ready to start level 3. I've been doing it with five pound weights and thought the work out was awfully hard and I just learned the other day that she recommends three pound weights. I also run sometimes I run and do the weights on the same day, and sometimes I just run. I also walk or bike to work and my job is super active I wore a pedometer at work and learned that I walk three-four miles on a typical shift, plus heavy lifting of patients, most of whom weigh well over two hundred pounds.

  5. My husband whetacs those old games he has seen before I don't get that but I am not a sports fan in general. And all the talking of the broadcasters drives me crazy, I can hardly stand to be in the room when he is watching games yak, yak yak.I figure when the shake weight and other miracle fitness devices are availabe in my gym, then I will try them. Otherwise, like many things only available on the web, I figure they are useless or otherwise unproven.I have been doing weight training to one degree or another for over 30 years. I am a believer.

  6. I love the Elliptical Machine at me gym. I usually do about 30-45 mieunts 4 times a week. If my son comes to the gym with me we'll do some strength training too but if left up to myself I enjoy the cardio aspect by itself. That wiggle thingy reminds me of those belts, marketed a few years ago, that you could strap around your waist and some type of electric jiggling went on, which was supposed to reduce your mid-section. Utter bologna.
